When you set off to the supermarket, shopping for regular products like eggs, meat, fish, milk, and fresh fruit
and vegetables in particular can be tricky if you want organic foods! Signs are posted
everywhere labelling food as "natural", "organic", and several other labels but do you really know what the
diferences are? Learning what those specific names can mean can help you decide whether you should spend extra
cash on a product when it is just a marketing ploy. You have to ask yourself are organic foods worth it for

Natural Labels
Natural is a term mostly associated with a fesh fruit and vegetables. Typically, this is simply a
marketing ploy to convince you to buy the product, as all fruits and vegetables are natural anyway aren't
they?Unless the product is a new kind of food that has been
developed and processed It certainly can't be fruit and veg, the product is natural. What you probably are
looking for is organic food. Organic foods are supposed to be grown without using chemical pesticides and
fertilizers you must check that they are from a reputable source otherwise you could be scammed!
Organic Foods
There are two key benefits of eating organic foods. Firstly, you are helping the environment because
damaging chemicals are not being introduced into the natural environment. Secondly, you are not ingesting
those chemicals and doing less damage to your body hopefully more healthy. However, most organic products are
usually more expensive. If you're on a tight budget, miss out organic fruits and vegetables that you can peel, such
as oranges and bananas, potatoes if not in their jackets for cooking.
Why is organic worth it? Well because once you've removed skin/peel, you've also gotten rid
of the chemicals. Instead, opt for organic items like apples, where you can eat the peel as most of the
goodness is in the skin and top layers of the fruit or veg. However no matter what you buy, ensure that you
rinse the food when you get home under running water. you don't have to do it straight away best leave until
you need it.
Hormones
"No hormones" is another tricky label you will see. This usually relates to milk and
aprticularly meat products and is totally false, since all animals including us naturally produce hormones.
Hormones are what helps an animal (even a human) regulate body organs, reproduce, and function normally. All
meat products have hormones! What the labels actually mean to say is that no hormones were unnaturally given to the
animal, which is sometimes done to increase milk production. Regardless of hormones, however, the milk and meat is
safe for a person and not a violation of an animals rights.
Finally, a label on eggs and meat can indicate whether the animal was caged or penned. This does not really
make much difference in the quality or nutritional value of the meat, but is simply a matter of animal rights.
These products can be more expensive, but if you want to make humane decisions, that is the way to go. Reading
the label and making healthy choices can sometimes be difficult, but learning how to do so can help you make the
best choices for your healthy eating.
Is organic worth it?
Probably not because of the premium put on them but they usually have better taste and you know that they are
grown or produced naturally, so it is really a matter of conscience and pocket, if you get organic foods that
benefit you in taste such as meat, do so but save money on things like bananas that you don't eat the skins of and
you will get the best of both worlds... all the benefits without all the cost.
So in the end Are organic foods worth it?... yes if you do it
right!
